How to Sell to Z Gallerie Stores and Become a Z Gallerie Vendor

Z Gallerie is an American home furnishings and decor retailer founded in 1979 as a poster shop by Joe and Carole Malfatti; today owned by DirectBuy.

Last week, the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and plans to liquidate 21 locations, including three in Texas if no buyer can be found. Store closing sales have begun with discounts of up to 40% available as opening bids close.

How to Sell to Z Gallerie Stores

Z Gallerie has launched store closing sales at 21 physical locations in nine states this week, selling off all inventory at steep discounts to the public. All purchases made before Tuesday can still make returns; Z Gallerie will honor gift cards until Nov. 15, and offers free shipping as an additional service option.

DirectBuy of Merrillville, Indiana filed for bankruptcy protection last week – its third attempt since 2009. At that time it closed some stores before finding an acquirer for them.

Z Gallerie’s recent filing blames pandemic-driven increases to supply chain costs and import fees as well as mortgage rate volatility for its financial woes. Since 2009, they have focused their operations on online sales alone and have had difficulty finding investors willing to invest in brick-and-mortar stores or warehouses.

Z Gallerie was established by Carole Malfatti and Joe and Mike Zeiden in 1979 and has grown into an international retailer offering contemporary, traditional, transitional designs to meet professional interior designer needs. However, due to financial struggles Z Gallerie has recently laid off employees at its headquarters in Sherman Oaks as well as staff in some stores; while it continues its search for buyers for its locations and warehouses but is willing to liquidate if no suitable offer comes about.

Z Gallerie Stores Vendor Guidelines

Z Gallerie, the contemporary furniture and decor retailer that filed for bankruptcy last week, has begun store closing sales at all 21 of its locations nationwide. DirectBuy Home Improvement Inc. hired B. Riley Retail Solutions as its retail consultant, marking all inventory by 40% or more during store closing sales that will run until November 15.

Z Gallerie is currently in its third bankruptcy filing and, according to court documents, their CFO has stated that should they fail to find a buyer for all stores and warehouses within six months, they will close all locations as well as reduce staff by 250 by the end of 2017. They blame high interest rates and housing market volatility as causes.

Home Gallery Stores (HFS), founded in 1979 as a poster shop, now boasts 21 stores across nine states including three in Texas – Galleria Dallas, Shops at Willow Bend in Plano and Houston – along with an expansive e-commerce presence.

Existing customers can place orders online by signing into their existing account on our website, creating one if necessary, or visiting this page and selecting products they desire for purchase before proceeding through checkout and receiving email confirmation of their purchase.

Within 14 days of receiving your item, registered customers who completed their order with Z Gallerie’s guest checkout can return it for a full refund. Refunds will be credited back to either their credit card or PayPal account used when originally making purchase – typically it takes 2-3 weeks before it appears back into your account.

Gift cards issued by your bank can also be used, provided they have been registered with customer service as the billing address for your bank and registered with their billing address before placing any transaction order. Z Gallerie does not provide warranties for items shipped internationally and all vendor ship times are estimates.

Z Gallerie was originally established as a poster shop in 1979 before it was acquired by private equity in 2009. While its founding family remained involved until they sold their stake to Brentwood Associates – also owners of Soft Surroundings and Beyond Proper by Boston Proper catalog brands – in 2009. Unfortunately, Z Gallerie is one of many retailers acquired through private equity that eventually succumbed to overwhelming debt burdens and closed.

Last week, this retailer filed for Chapter 11 protection and is planning on liquidating its stores if no buyer can be found. In court documents filed by its interim CEO Robert Fetterman, his difficulties can be attributed to rising interest rates and housing market issues.

Z Gallerie has filed court documents detailing that B. Riley has been approved as their partner to help liquidate inventory and close 21 store locations, according to court documents filed by them. Closing sales are scheduled to commence October 25 and all items within those locations will be reduced until they sell off by November. Z Gallerie has hired several experts in overseeing this process.

Z Gallerie Stores Customer Service

All their locations have now begun conducting liquidation sales with marked-down inventory at reduced prices being sold off, along with accepting gift cards until November 15th.
