We will be discussing the Magic Trade Show, one of the largest fashion shows in the United States. As someone who has worked with consumer product brands all over the world, I believe that Magic is an amazing trade show for those with great fashion or fashion accessory products. However, in today’s world, with the internet and different ways of communicating with buyers, attending trade shows can be expensive and time-consuming. So, if you’re on a tight budget, consider virtual strategies for generating revenue with your consumer product brand.
That being said, there are many things to appreciate about Magic. Firstly, it’s important to walk around and check out the competition to see what’s hot and trending, what styles and colors are being used, and what’s next in fashion. Magic is a great place for that, as you get a feel for what you need to create, and also what’s coming next in fashion. Also, many buyers attend the show, so if you do get a booth, it’s recommended that you reach out to retail buyers beforehand and let them know you will be there, and invite them to your booth. It’s important to remember that this is a big show, so standing there hoping that buyers will come by doesn’t always work, and you may miss out on opportunities.
At trade shows, people will promise you the world, but it’s important to remain chill and even keeled throughout, even if someone offers you a big opportunity. Wait until after the event and you have a purchase order in your hand before getting too excited. While this may seem pessimistic, it’s actually a positive thing, as many people have cried after events because they put all their hopes in one opportunity, only to be disappointed when it falls through.
Another important thing to remember is to bring something for buyers to be able to buy from you. This may seem obvious, but many people forget to bring something for buyers to purchase right then and there. Make it easy for them to buy your products on the spot and treat your booth like a retail store.
Lastly, make sure your booth looks cool! I have seen people spend all their money to go to trade shows and then their booth looks terrible. Invest some time and money into making your booth look attractive and presentable. This is the first impression that buyers will have of your brand, so make sure it’s a good one.
To prepare for the Magic Trade Show, walk the floor one year and see what’s working for people, and then prepare accordingly. Look around and see what’s getting people to come to different booths. Is it a contest or a giveaway? Look at the pros and see what they’re doing that’s working well, and then emulate that at the Magic Trade Show.
