Bergdorf Goodman Vendor
How to Sell to Bergdorf Goodman
Bergdorf Goodman is a premier luxury department store located exclusively in New York. Offering premium ready-to-wear collections, contemporary shoe and handbag collections, accessories for decorative home decor as well as decorative home textiles – they boast one of the world’s premier collections of clothing for both men and women, along with shoes, handbags and decorative home pieces – their offerings cover ready-to-wear collections as well as shoes.
Since 1899, Neiman Marcus has earned a reputation for its stylish merchandise and superior service. Now owned by Dallas-based Neiman Marcus Group and operating from two Manhattan stores directly facing each other on Fifth Avenue, its popularity continues.
1. Reach out to the store.
If you are considering buying something from Bergdorf Goodman, be aware of their strict return policy. Make sure to try your purchases as soon as they arrive or else they could become difficult later down the line.
If the item you buy does not meet your expectations or doesn’t fit properly, you have 30 days from delivery to return it and get your money back. Please keep the original and unused condition items. Bergdorf Goodman customers who have created an account online can access their order history and create an easy return slip so they can send their merchandise off back with ease.
As well, you can return items directly at any Bergdorf Goodman store if preferred – simply bring in both your receipt and email confirmation for verification. To speed up this process further, create a return slip in advance by logging into your Bergdorf Goodman account and clicking “orders” or “order details”.
When returning your items, ensure that you have all of the relevant details ready. You will require your order number, email address and phone number in order to submit your return successfully and be credited back via credit/debit card or bank account that was used during purchase.
Bergdorf Goodman was established in New York City in 1899 and is internationally-acclaimed for its elegant decor and high-end merchandise. As the only luxury department store located exclusively within New York City, Bergdorf Goodman is often seen making appearances in popular culture – from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attending tea dates there to documentaries highlighting this storied retailer.
2. Make an appointment with the store’s buyer.
If you wish to sell your products at Bergdorf Goodman, make an appointment with their buyer and bring in the necessary paperwork for application process. Be prepared with your business plan and product line description prior to attending an interview appointment.
Bergdorf Goodman is a department store located in Midtown Manhattan in New York City. Established by Herman Bergdorf and later run by Edwin Goodman and his family, two stores stand across Fifth Avenue from each other.
Inside the store, employees were attentive to every detail. Marble floors were kept spotless while security tags clicked white noiselessly against handbags in the background. A home floor dedicated to jewelry and china took up much of the floor’s space, taking up to three months between presentations.
Bergdorf Goodman offers both retail and wholesale operations, including flagship locations and an active ecommerce site. To streamline their wholesale ordering processes, Bergdorf Goodman uses JOOR’s digital platform; their buyers use iPad apps or web platforms like this one from any location to place orders quickly – perfect for market appointments! This helps Bergdorf Goodman keep track of its orders while providing shoppers with consistent brand experiences.
For those unwilling to part with their favorite designer handbag or sweater, the store has partnered with Give Back Box which offers customers the ability to donate gently used clothing and household items in exchange for gift cards. In addition, there is an atelier onsite offering services like hemming, tailoring, restyling and other related services.
3. Fill out the vendor application.
Bergdorf Goodman app puts fashion at your fingertips! Browse their unparalleled womenswear and menswear edits, exclusive collections, and groundbreaking collaborations for an effortless Bergdorf Goodman experience that has been an iconic New York institution for 120 years. Mobile shopping makes shopping even easier at Bergdorf Goodman than ever.
The store has long been an icon on the Upper East Side and is often associated with luxury. Celebrity patronage includes Barbra Streisand who hosted her TV special My Name is Barbra from their fine jewelry floor; Dudley Moore and Liza Minnelli can often be seen socializing on its fifth-floor “Miss Bergdorf” department during filming of Arthur; Princess Diana frequented this store, as did Jackie Kennedy who wrote detailed letters to Marita detailing hat designs and shoe needs for Marita as personal shopper Marita regarding designs for Princess Diana as well as shoe requests from herself.
Bergdorf Goodman became prosperous enough for it to expand, yet founder Edwin Goodman remained committed to operating from one location so he could maintain the high level of service and merchandise quality that had earned his store its sterling reputation. Andrew Goodman took over running Bergdorf Goodman after Edwin passed away and led until it was sold off to Dallas-based Carter Hawley Hale Stores for $745 Million in 1991.
However, many would argue that such claims have no basis in reality. After the sale, Bergdorf Goodman sought to modernize its operations, including creating the sixth-floor Decorative Home on Seven (offering antiques, porcelains, crystals, silver and stationery in addition to first edition and rare books), as well as revamping their seventh-floor beauty salon to include eight spa rooms for facials and other treatments. Additionally, the fifth-floor Miss Bergdorf department was renovated to make room for an expansive selection of accessories as well as to offer a cafe. In 2019, Neiman Marcus Store launched their “Conscious Closet” initiative, an effort designed to offer personalized styling, repair, alteration and resale services as part of Neiman Marcus Group’s commitment to extend the useful life of 1 million luxury items through circular services by 2025.
4. Schedule a call with the store’s buyer.
Bergdorf Goodman offers both in-store and ecommerce purchases through their robust ecommerce business, but also uses JOOR as a cloud-based wholesale ordering platform to efficiently manage wholesale orders across departments and ensure product quality consistency across them all. JOOR helps the company manage orders efficiently while giving them visibility into inventory data that allows for informed business decisions to be made by providing insight into inventory levels and sales metrics.
Bergdorf Goodman stands to benefit from technological advancements that will continue its expansion and remain one of the prestigious names in fashion. While they have experienced some difficulties, they are striving to turn things around and enhance customer experiences; one way they have done this is through creating a customer’s bill of rights that protects against discrimination or unreasonable searches.
Store buyers are an essential component of the team that works to select fashionable merchandise for store shelves. Buyers travel extensively in search of new products that bring consistency across locations of a brand; staying abreast of trends and developments within the industry ensures this goal can be accomplished successfully. Buyers also work closely with designers to ensure their stores have all of the merchandise needed.
Women’s footwear and handbag buyers, for instance, might collaborate directly with designers to curate an exclusive capsule collection just for the store – this ensures their goods reach as many potential consumers as possible and receive maximum exposure. In contrast, buyers for men’s wear may work closely with Merchandising teams to produce something appealing to shoppers in-store.
5. Meet with the store’s buyer.
Bergdorf Goodman remains one of New York City’s premier luxury stores since opening their doors in 1928, being recognized globally for their elegance, quality and superior service.
Bergdorf Goodman offers more than just designer fashion; they also host high-profile events and provide their customers with exclusive personal shopping services. Bergdorf’s long and distinguished history includes having been home to one of Jacqueline Kennedy’s personal shoppers, Betty Halbreich. Jacqueline wrote letters directly to Betty at Bergdorf’s, including purchasing the Halston pillbox hat she wore the day her husband was assassinated from them!
Edwin Goodman held to his commitment of running one flagship store as the foundation for expansion, believing this allowed him to maintain the high standard of merchandise and service that had contributed to his company’s success. Andrew Goodman took charge in expanding and improving upon its reputation during the 1950s and 60s – opening a fur salon, creating the successful Bergdorf Goodman Number Nine perfume, expanding women’s ready-to-wear offerings by designers like Donna Karan, Zac Posen and Calvin Klein among many others.
Today, the store continues to set trends with its collections of ready-to-wear clothing, shoes and accessories, and celebrity sightings. Owned by Dallas-based Neiman Marcus Group and operating out of two Manhattan locations: its main store between 57th and 58th streets on Fifth Avenue as well as a men’s store on West 58th Street; in addition, ongoing renovation work at its flagship location on Fifth Avenue between 57th and 58th streets aims to modernize and restore lost luster while opening plans to open one in Los Angeles area
